Default The Spanish Fly learns about V20 Boys and says Hi

Well I went to the Jersey sportsman Show with an agenda, to meet someone I enjoy a lot and to pick up a new rod and reel for a good price. Success on both counts.

Waited for the right time to approach him and spent about ten minutes filling Jose Wejebe in on all you Snaggers, he said he had never fished from a V20 but see's them everywhere and he always heard good things about them. I invited him on mine and he said thanks, but he is on the move. What a genuine and down to earth guy, just like the impression you get on his show.

I went to his seminar and he was great, afterwards he and I talked about the equipment he uses and he filled me in on what and why, even though I already knew I wanted the Shimano Saragosa I did not have a rod selected and he told me what he used and why, sounded good to me so I picked up one. I asked Jose to put some voodoo on for me and he grabbed it and said this rod has good mojo.

Nice day, nice guy, nice rig set up. Next week the V goes in the water and the Spanish Mojo stick will sing!!

OK time for a cocktail to celebrate

Excellent job representing willy.

Nice rod and reel combo. The new propulsion system is supposed to be the ballz. The reel should have come with some very thin black washers. Add one to the mainshaft right under the spool. Then your braid won't pile up under the top lip. You'll get an even crosswrap all the way up.

JOSE is one guy I would REALLY want to go fishing with. I've been watching his shows for longer than I can remember, and still record his show every week so I don't miss it. He also does quite a bit of work with children with disabilities as well. You MUST respect somebody like him who goes out of his way to help others when he doesn't have to.

And Ferm he was telling me about a special needs kid he took out fishing who did not have the bicep and tricep muscles in his right arm. He is a pretty decent guy, I am usually a pretty good judge of character and I got real good reads on Jose.
He fishes all over and has settled on a set up which he uses all over the world for everything from bonefish and permit to giant grouper from very deep water to amberjacks cobia etc.
He said Shimano finally figured out how to put together the high modulus graphite technology with the toughness of the old fiberglass rods which they were not able to put the two materials together until this line of rods a couple of years ago.
Now this reel or the next one up I forget the name in a 5000-8000 size is all he uses now when he is not fly fishing. He loads it with 50-80 pound power pro with a long top shot of flourocarbon leader. He showed us a video of him pulling a 55 pound marble grouper out of the rocks from 200 feet down and it was this rod and reel set up.
He uses the 5.5 to 6.5 Trevalas and says he has yet to get into a fish he could not fight well with the combo and that the new technology in the reel and the rod has just floored him.
Good enough for me, this rod is the 6.5 foot length and the reel and combo is sweet.
Plus I got Mojo on it now!!!

That info was with the instructions on all the spinning reels that used to be supplied with them. You know....that printed material that comes in the box that nobody reads. Probably a cost savings move by eliminating the washers. Kind of like the airline industry back in the day eliminating lettuce on the plate of in-flight meals and saving millions of dollars/year. Now you can't even get a bag of peanuts.
I'll have a look in the morning. I'm quite sure I have extras. I'll send you some to try.
