I can see why you say that is a Panga but I don't think Panga makes a boat larger than 22'. The boat they are in is at least 25'. Someone on another board said it was definitely a Privateer. But, who knows.

I used to do a lot of drug interdiction in the Carib. when I was in tha Army, that hull design in a very common one with the Columbians, they some of them even have manufacturer data plates that give all the info and give Medellin as a place of manufactuer (home of the drug cartell) other places that I have been in the Med and the Pacific coast of Panama they are very common boats. Seems to be a favorite for low income fisherman, drug smugglers and Costa Rican guides ;D

Panga is a generic term used for that style boat...someone came along and decided to use ''Panga" as a brand name... :)...for the picture above the cut line should read; ''Panga...the choice of morons''... ;D...

I really wish they would'a showed the rear end of that boat. In the news they're callin em "high speed boats". I'm so darn curious whether they have outboards or what?!? ???

BR, every Panga (generic or brand name) I've seen pictured has been outboard powered w/a tiller handle...how big an OB can ya get w/tiller steering?...WOW, just answered my own question...2006 E-Tec is offered w/tiller up to 115 HP (maybe 130 depending on this chart...it's kinda unclear), but either way, that'd push a Panga along pretty good, even loaded w/morons and their weapons...

Pangas are long; 25' and more, but narrow so real efficient...

"efficient" yeah, that's what they need. Less gas means more room for ammo!

I have personally seen a 150 hp tiller outboard. Been a while and I forgot what it was on. I think it was a Yammie.
