As for towing with the top up---I do not do it if I am getting on a highway--you do not see it now--but you will see excessive wear on your top if you leave up the side curtians and top etc going down the freeway. With 35 years of towing a boat--top up will cost you tons in the long run as you shorten the life of your top. The 15 minutes it takes me to take the top down is cheap compared to buying a new top.
Top up, and towing at about 110 mph with the Ford Explorer - no problems except I do burn some fuel in the Ford. Then, boat in water and with the new 400hp inboard I run the V21 at 70 mph to get offshore in a hurry. Then I run the boat up the ramp at full speed too........I'm able to skid it a good 300 feet, right up to the hose to wash it off.

I think Mr. Green has inhalled a bit too much fish juice. Everyone knows you cannot skid these boats more than about 200 feet!!
