I would get the second axle if I was you. Even with the extra heavy duty single axle it is carrying a real heavy load. They trailer so much better on two axles. And if something was to happen you still have an extra axle that can support the whole load. My tandem which was not in the best shape when I got the boat (serious lack of maintenance) has gotten us back after a couple of unfortunate issues that where no fault of my own. I have steadily been repairing it to get another couple of years out of it. You just never know what can happen.

I bought a load rite but had the get it adjusted the wheels kept riding on the chines I think I had to move the rollers closer to the belly of my boat but I got a mech, toadjust it and 100 dollars later I hope it is right. I am going to junk my 1978 trailer and it's breaking my heart

How bad shape is your old '78?...I might be interested if it ain't a pile of red dust...

im sorry reelapeelin i junked it monday, i kept all the rollers and washers and to tell you the truth when i was looking at it with no boat on it it really didnt look that bad. but i was concerned about the rust on the rails at te end and the arms where rusted too, i would hate to see some one using it and the arms or frame broke, it would cause alot of damage
oh and i got 72 dollars for it
