Yep. Use Awl Grip. It'll stay and and look good for a looong time. You can get a nice job with it by rolling it on.

yes and they have a special blend to use with a roller and tip brushing after.
I would suggest you not use sand as a media for the striping, it damages the gel coat too much. If you cannot afford the soda or dry ice media then the best bet is the chemical strippers and a lot less expensive to boot.
