Last December, I had some things happen that forced me to temporarily close off many parts of my life. *I won't go into details. *One thing I had to give up was boating as well as this forum.
But all those things are past me now and I am back to working on the V!! *And, I am back here!! I am now in the process of doing a cap off restoration. I will start a thread in the repairs forum soon. I know you guys like pictures so I'll post the first ones here. This is what I started with. ![]() I used the boat about 25 hours last summer. *It ran OK. *Always fiddling with the sea drive to get it running right. *But then I started to notice alot of water in the bilge. *So after the season was over I took it out and found this: ![]() The transom was rotten. *Bad. *That lower sea drive mounting hole is the culprit. *Notice the wood just above it. *It's unaffected. *Stupid wood! >:( So, *I stripped the Boat down: ![]() Here's the POS sea drive getting ready to be picked up. *I sold it as a parts motor on ebay for $200: ![]() And then I pulled it apart: ![]() ![]() I haven't yet gotten to cutting into the transon. *I am going to clean all that foam out. *It's pretty waterlogged. Here's a shot of the guts: ![]() I will start a new thread soon in the repairs section to document this process. *I hope to talk to all of you soon. * I will be celebrating July 4th with some nice fiberglass grinding and foam digging. Hope y'all have a safe 4th!! ;D Chris |
