Default Re: Motor Help?

I honestly cannot speak from experience. But, while all the new technology is very interesting and tempting, I tend to side with the old school mechanic. Probably because I've been brow beaten by a similar mechanic that feels the same way. It does seem that when something new comes out, it's all very exciting and rosey for a while, then the problems begin. Carb'd motors have been around for a long time with few problems and I like that warm fuzzy feeling I get from long proven technology. I'm sure someone here can give you better feedback on some of the newer motors than I can.
Mine is an '88 (I was told '89 by the previous owner but from everything that I can tell, I believe it to be an '88) Yammi 150 (carb of course) and it pushes mine to just about 38 mph. I think a 150 hp and above is perfect for these boats because the motors are not working as hard. Motor load plays a big part in the longevity of your motor.
