Hammer, I've got an 83 outboard(95'150Mariner)with a teak swim platform on the port side. The christmas tree ladders are nice, you don"t have to take off your fins to stand on it. I've got one on our scallop boat(13' whaler). I would love to post pictures, but don"t know how, maybe I can get my kids to show me. I would really like to have a hard top, but haven't seen one that I really like or can afford.
Tin man, thats exactly how its done, works great until you set the hook in a submerged bridge span. Sometimes I lead the rope around and tie to a stern cleat, you don't have to worry about running over your line, because you can keep an eye on the line and ball at the same time.
