Hey all,

MJ I understand fully what you are saying. If the battery is to the point of freezing, the electrolyte has turned into water from hydrocloric acid (key element Hydrogen atom) and the plates have sulfated. That also means that battery would not be any good anyway. That's where you get batteries freezing and exploding. Water freezes, electrolyte does not.
I don't know about you, but where I go, I wouldn't want to be out there with a battery that is more than 4-5 years old anyway! I don't consider the battery to be a big expense if i have to replace them every 4 to 5 years.
Bringing batteries in a basement and charging them is really not a safe thing to do. They emit hydrogen gas when charging, remember...big boom. Keep them in the garage and trickle charge.
