if its not hopping, you're not driving it fast enough. Seriously, these boats are fairly tame at high speed. They have a rounded keel and generally will chine walk once you get it running a good speed. You learn how to offset drive the walk. I've driving far worse, far faster( 107 is my fastest on the water). Numerous boats in the high 80's. Quite a few in the 90's, a hand full in the triple digits. If you were to ask what's the fastest set up with a current 200 right now, its without any doubt, the 200 V6 Mercury 4 stroke

I thought my boat ( 1978 20,6 wellcraft steplift ) was fast 38 mph at W.O.T Turning a 15x17 inch prop. Maybe I take too much stuff with me.
150 mercury outboard 2 stroke. One 5hing I know is that its not overloaded with fish lol. Im lucky if I get a keeper
