its a false sense of security, they all break down, all the time. 90% of the boats I'm on are broken, the owner just doesn't realize it yet. Just be prepared for it to break and you'll be OK

Phatdaddy, I trust my motor and my boat I just feel like what's next? I used to go to the mud bouy with no problem but today I won't forget it. Maybe I have to use it more. It's a good old 2 stroke. A very simple motor , I know people that bought a brand new Suzuki and broke down the first time out. I feel I'm just over protective. And don't like to chance anything. That's not good. She is a good host and motor. It's just me. .

D’s advice is good - I bought my 15 hp kicker as much for a get home motor as for trolling and so far it’s been 100% get home. I went with 15 bacause it will troll down as low as the 9.9 and has more juice to buck a head wind for getting home. I’m REALLY glad I have it on the boat.
