All "Top Tier"(Exxon/Chevron/Shell/Sunoco/BP...) gasoline already has detergents. They are the same chemicals as Ring Free and Techron.
Google "Top tier gasoline" for an explanation They generally don't have the additive for long term storage that prevents phase separation of alcohol from gasoline. If your gas sits for months at a time you should use a stabilizer.

Stabilizer will be a must. After what these monkeys did to this boat/motor. Haven’t figured which one is best but that’s the one I’ll be looking for. Also gonna have to figure out how to winterize my first outboard. Not going through that sh!t again.

I always add Startron to my gas. That's what I was told years ago and still use it today. If you get it look for the 32 oz bottle. It's cheaper and last long search around I bought it from defender marine.

I fuel up from the local gas station also. I always put fuel stabilizer in every gallon that goes in the tank. I've got a Mercury 2 cycle and use the QuickSilver fuel treatment. Every year in early summer, I try to burn down the tank to about half and then top off the tank with fresh fuel- 10 gallons at a time. Starting late-August, I double-up on the treatment strength for the winter.

unless you know you're going to use the majority of your fuel in your tank, add some type of additive to help in storage. you don't always get a chance to run all your fuel out. Weather cuts the trip short, weather sucks next weekend, family stuff the next, have plans the next week. Next thing you know, its been 8 weeks since you've taken your boat out. Never hurts to put some additive in. I run stabil and ring free plus in my fuel, its a two stroke and I firmly believe in running ring free in every tank( or something similar) to prevent carbon buildup. doesn't hurt to run it in 4 strokes either, just not as important. My friend that run teh harbor taxi run ring free regularly. They have 15000 hours on a pair of 150s right now. Never had the heads off.
