So the tubes are not flared at the ends, just insert the tube and what kind of epoxy do you use? The name and you use the same stuff to coat the inside of the hole and the outside of the tube,
So you have the tube sticking out and cut in even with the hull, sounds good and easy too

If you already have the brass tube coming, go ahead and use it, it lasted this long. I used life caulk on the last one I did. For the pvc, I generally have some west system laying around

I have it coming, Amazon sells the tube, the flaring tool and 1 oz of 5200 it's all coming . I never used the flaring tool but on you tube the flared end goes inside the boat and you flare the outside I hope it works out good. My boat is a 78 so like you I figured if it lasted over 40 years I will just replace it with the brass sleeve but I do like your PVC pipe idea it sounds very good.

The ends of the PVC are not flared? You just insert it and epoxy it in place and works good? Doesn't turn, doesn't move? Mine is in and looks good I find use 5200 so that should lock it in place I hope.brass tube made in China that I don't like.
