			Hey all,

I’m thinking about installing a raw water wash down kit and am looking for recommendations on brands and installation locations. I might also install an additional bilge pump so if you have a recommendation for that as well, please share. Thanks |

on my Grady I have a Shurflo BlasterII 3.5 gpm, bronze thru hull and a ball valve in the stern bilge area. I have a separate livewell pump bronze thruhull & valve.

We do a lot of fishing...tuna fishing...and it is a neccessity...but some of the guys go crazy spraying salt water. If you are in salt and you don't have a blood & bait issue, it might not be worth it. I never got around to putting one on my V20 but I thought about it alot. We just dipped the brush in the ocean and scrubbed....sometimes a 5 gal bucket dumped on deck...we got by. A washdown pump is high pressure and not on all the time. It does not double as a livewell pump which is low pressure and can run constantly. If you plan on having a livewell, you can share the thru hull with the washdown.

Oh, on my V20 cuddy I put a second bilge pump forward. I had cut out the floor of the fishbox to remove junk that was blocking the pvc tube for bilge water.

I ran the hose back inside the gunnel to the starboard side under where the other bilge pump outlet was. Its good to have a fwd bilge pump if you dock all season because that is where the water collects first. And its good to clean out the junk blocking the drain pipe!!!!

I don't think a washdown pump will prime if it has to pull water up an empty 1" pvc tube. Download the op manual before you buy....

Had 1" thru hull scoop strainer on my grady feeding both washdown and livewell pump (water puppy impeller vs diaphragm). Water puppys dont last in a wet environment though good for 1-12 yrs the diaphragm pump would be the backup when the other failed, 5 impeller pumps in 10 yrs and 1 diaphragm in 10 and still going strong

never had an issue with drawing water from either at about a 2 1/2 to 3 ft Just added a 3/4 to the V20 last week, planning one pump for both IMG_6541.jpg IMG_6534.jpg |
