Newbie on here just picked up a 1993 CC

Maybe a bit squirrely towards top end........but pick nice flat conditions and let er rip !

Combination of outboard trim, and if equipped with trim tabs and you'll dial in
max rpm & speed for your records....

If boat hull, motor, motor height, and prop all correct.......I'm guessing 55 + mph quite possible, with 1/2 fuel or less.

I had it out for the first time today and it ran well she’s fast but I didn’t feel like it was too much it was nice having power if I needed it. My trim button is sticking so I need to replace that and I didn’t play with the trim a whole lot because of that. But I’ll get it taken care of before I get back out there

As stated, it's in turns at high speed that things can get squirrely rapidly. As you take a sharp turn the boat will lean in the direction you're turning. As it does so it lifts the other side of the hull up out of the water, so the lifting strakes that were giving you planing and control on the side opposite the turn will give less. At the same time the side leaning into the turn will slide sideways (centrifugal force) through the water because of less hull in the water. It's just something to be aware of at speed. Hit a big roller wave while that's going on and it can mean trouble in seconds.

Yeah I get that I know it’s not a race boat and I don’t plan on whipping around pylons at 60 mph. But the boat handled pretty well with the 225 I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely needed but if one where to fall into your lap at a good price I wouldn’t have any qualms about putting it on there. If I was buying a new motor yeah a 150 - 175 would be adequate

I do have to admit it brought me satisfaction cruising right by this guy I knows $60k boat with my cobbled together $7k boat..LOL

Well said, and just because a boat can do 55 mph doesn't mean it's a good idea.

If Hull is dry and motor, prop, trim all good my guess is 55 mph.
I believe one guy with 225 was reaching 58 wow.
A very light 6” chop perfect for straight line drag run.
And of course your easy cruise speed with 225 at 25-30 mph will be real easy on that motor.

Thanks I haven’t been back out yet last weekend we had 25-30 mph wind gusts on the bay so I didn’t go out. My brother got into some serious **** with his 26’ Seafox so I’m glad I stayed home. I had planned on getting out there this weekend if I can get some gas. ****s crazy around here right now
