Of course, the initial pick up could be a couple hundred miles, depending on what’s out there. Right now, the boat I’m focused on is in the philly area. I’d also travel for the right truck..

I've never been a Ford fan, my Father in Law loves Fords, had a nice 2013 Platinum with the coyote 5.0, was a nice truck, it should have been as it cost $50,000 , he never keeps a vehicle over 50,000 miles. All I know, is he looses about 50% value when he sells them and they are generally in better shape when he sells them than they were new. For some stupid reason, he sold it and bought a 2020 Platinum ecoboost. I will never own any vehicle that you pull the cab off the frame to do engine work, so that rules Fords out. BTW, my 02 Suburban is setting on 285K miles, original motor, original transmission. I've had to replace the circulation pump twice, swapped the hoses out while I was at it, had a leaking heater hose fitting last year and had to replace the plastic quick connect. Regularly changed fluids and filters. Biggest thing was replacing the oil pump pickup o-ring. Dropped the pan without any trouble( 2wd). Last trip to Sneads Ferry, I hand calculated 17 mpg average.

My fishing buddy has a 2010 F150, seems decent enough, but he has to carry spare coil packs with him, we have changed several on the way to and from fishing.
On the Chevy/GMC 5.3, don't get one 2007 or newer, they turned a 400k mile motor into a 100k mile motor with their AFM/DOD system.

I see a lot of grand Cherokees in the 2004 to 2012 range for like $6,000 and less. Raises a red flag, but with the exception of a few road trips here and there, it won’t be driven far. I am a bit concerned about tow capacity.

Any Chrysler product is a red flag to me.

Not all of the fen 4 LS engines have AFM. And afm is active fuel management, or dod which us displacement on demand, it was the system that shut off 4 cylinders. The engines themselves are fine, but around 125-150k miles the special lifters for the afm tend to fail, turn in the lifter bore, and wipe out cam lobes. You can have it electronically disabled, or change the cam and lifters out to a mon afm setup and tune it out to have a better engine than the gen 3's.
As to the Fords of that gen, many spit spark plugs out, or seized in the head and broke off, or you lose coils. I've seen some run for alot of hard miles, but I would consider them an exception to the rule.

Not sure if I did this right, but it looks like a pretty good deal, if everything checks out.
