Im a ford guy but wont own a triton ford engine. heard too many bad things about them. My dad had an expedition and always had coil problems. U cant go wrong with a yukon or tahoe. I have a yukon xl that my wife drives. It will tow a boat but not the greatest gas milage with the boat back there. 16 mpg around town, 18 highway. its a 5.3 engine. If you have kids get one with a tv. kids will be quiet watching it, or throw the wife back there? In the xl or suburban the rear seats come out so u can put a lot of stinky fishing gear back there.

I had the Yukon XL. 02 or 04, if memory serves. Had the 6.0 and mileage isn’t an issue. I drive 1/3 of a mile to work and I have 2 ramps within 3 miles of my house. I think I’d like to go with a pickup, but they’re quite a bit more expensive.

Then I would go with a chevy or gmc pickup over a ford.

Of course, the initial pick up could be a couple hundred miles, depending on what’s out there. Right now, the boat I’m focused on is in the philly area. I’d also travel for the right truck..

I've never been a Ford fan, my Father in Law loves Fords, had a nice 2013 Platinum with the coyote 5.0, was a nice truck, it should have been as it cost $50,000 , he never keeps a vehicle over 50,000 miles. All I know, is he looses about 50% value when he sells them and they are generally in better shape when he sells them than they were new. For some stupid reason, he sold it and bought a 2020 Platinum ecoboost. I will never own any vehicle that you pull the cab off the frame to do engine work, so that rules Fords out. BTW, my 02 Suburban is setting on 285K miles, original motor, original transmission. I've had to replace the circulation pump twice, swapped the hoses out while I was at it, had a leaking heater hose fitting last year and had to replace the plastic quick connect. Regularly changed fluids and filters. Biggest thing was replacing the oil pump pickup o-ring. Dropped the pan without any trouble( 2wd). Last trip to Sneads Ferry, I hand calculated 17 mpg average.

My fishing buddy has a 2010 F150, seems decent enough, but he has to carry spare coil packs with him, we have changed several on the way to and from fishing.
On the Chevy/GMC 5.3, don't get one 2007 or newer, they turned a 400k mile motor into a 100k mile motor with their AFM/DOD system.
