Default 2006 Evinrude/ Bombardier 175hp

I was offered a pretty good deal on this motor,,, 2006 Bombardier Evinrude 175hp Vindicator Gray I must say I have been skeptical on all the DFI Evinrude engines from the previous years 1999 to 2002.
Friend of mine got a few of these from a military auction some never been in saltwater, all these motors are gray in color and were used and some either coast guard or military exercises.
My question has anyone on the board ever used these engines with good results.

The last of the Ficht engines before they went to etecs were supposed to be some really good engines, and got some of the best fuel economy of all DFI's.

I had one of the fichts after Bombardier had taken over - fine motor.
Only issue may be parts more scarce but I don’t know that for sure.

Bombardier fixed the OMC issues but the reputation lived on till they launched the Etecs
