Seafoam

I have a 55 gallon tank and put in one can of seafoam,do you think that would do anything?and is it good to add seafoam?

Can t do much damage and might do some good. I run a can through my vehicles once a year and usually keep it in my 2 cycle weed eater/ edger/ chainsaw can.

Some claim a bottle of rubbing alcohol will do just as good

I don't know how true it is but I heard rubbing alcohol is like dry gas and mixes with the water in the tank and let's you burn it, seafoam is supposed to clean your fuel system but I don't know if one can does anything .

About alcohol mixing with water - it does (and also dissolves at least some shellack buildup - I’ve used it full strength as a solvent to clean out little carburetors with success).

But back to water. Ages ago we lived in central Washington and had an old WWII Jeep that wouldn’t start in the very cold weather one day. Some guy said to pour alcohol in the tank, that it would sink through the gas and melt the ice. I thought “yeah, right “ but I needed the Jeep and figured there wasn’t anything to lose. I dumped a few glugs in, put the gas cap on and as quickly as I could get in and try to start it, it fired right up. I couldn’t believe it

Seafoam is mostly alcohol, so it attracts moisture, and a boat lives in water so watch your fuel water separator closely. It emulsifies the water, so instead of your filter catching it, it will now get burned through the engine.

So fern, you wouldn't use it?

In a small tank for decarbing, yes. In a fuel tank in the boat, no way.
