Bottom line is thank God nothing more serious occurred!! But thanks for posting this Steplift20 cause I know we are all on high alert now and everyone will be thinking about this post as they start the engine..

I would definitely replace the water pump. Also paint the new impeller with Marvel's Mystery Oil so if you do this again it won't hurt it. But a water pump is cheaper than a motor.

I hope I did help someone to bring special attention to what I did or didn't do and theferminator gave me good advice I do have a short hose about 10 feet ,that's a great idea fern I will be doing that in the future.i did take my boat out and it looks ok, I think I got very very lucky ,only time will tell.now if the weather cooperates .
