Rigged and installed maybe, just for the engine I think it sounds high for a 13 year old engine. Any experience with the dealer?
Haven't seen SSIRedfish here in a while!

Just wondered if it was engine only, by the time a dealer adds rigging, gauges, controls, installation, prop, taxes, etc. he could be 10 grand plus.
If that is the drive out price from a dealer that he knows or is known to do good work I agree, not a bad deal. Speaking of good deals, friend of mine showed me a 21 or so Key West center console 2012 maybe with a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke, 162 hours, custom T top, Nice aluminum trailer, kept covered, owned by an old retired guy with plenty of money, cream puff condition for 19,500 asking price.

Thanks for the info guys. The motor I'm asking about is from a shop in Florida called M W Outboards. I'm in NJ so I would have to pay shipping and then have it rigged up from a marina in my area. Problem I'm having is the company I got approved t finance with will only approve the loan if the dealer I purchase from does the install. Also purchasing a used motor from that far away doesn't sit well with me in case something went wrong with the motor. I also got a price for a new Yamaha F150 at $12,000 before install cost but I wouldn't need gauges or controls since I'm replacing a Yamaha but I think the monthly payment will be higher than I would like for right now. My other option is the purchase a new lower unit for my current motor and see if that fixes the issue.
I was also considering maybe a smaller motor to save a few bucks like a 135 but I'm not sure if that would be enough for my boat. 1993 V21. Any thoughts on this? Last edited by Rusty5387; 07-21-2018 at 02:15 AM. |

I would be VERY careful buying a motor i have not looked at in person. I did a search on THT and came up with very little feedback. Lotta outboard pirates in florida. They promise you the moon on the phone

What Phat said.
Plus something to consider is why has someone taken a perfectly good running engine off a boat and put it up for sale.
