OK been chasing demons through this 1.8l V4 OMC seadrive. Last year ran great until I had a fuel delivery problem.. I think that was the issue.. now after rebuilding carbs, changing filters, bypassing VRO ( for diagnostic purposes) I haven’t gotten her to turn over and stay fired. Battery is new 1000CCA charged, new 2AWG marine cables. Yesterday after bypassing inboard tank to a portable with 50:1 non E she fired then hiccuped and quit, cranked for another min and noticed heat at the Trim tilt junction box. Upon further inspection the ground side of the box was jury rigged, old repair done by previous owner, improper grounding at the main terminal on box, melting plastic and I’m sure resisting power to starter and power head. This may have been my problem all along. Here are some pics. I am wondering if I can replace the cables from box to the motor, they come in a cable assembly that ain’t cheap. Only the one terminal on the ground side is damaged. Trim and tilt stil functioning, but now no ground to starter. Gonna post pics

Most times with battery problems is an unclean ground. Probably more important than the positive side. It is so important to check and clean battery terminals every season. Be sure to check all terminal connections for anything electrical.

After you get it all cleaned up and working, Ive had good results with the CRC battery cable spray.
