Honda's biggest drawback has been there weight. They have been the heaviest outboards because instead of following yamaha's lead and using motorcycle based engine designs, they went and used engines based on there automotive designs. My 75hp I had on my last skiff was a straight up carbed version of a 1.6l Honda civic engine that made 75hp in the civic. So for a 75hp outboard, it weighed as much as a 200hp 2 stroke mercury did at a shade over 400 pounds. And then theres the corrosion issues. Coupled with no dealer network really put them as an after thought.

Honda's are the heaviest outboards out there when new, after one season in salt, they are the lightest

Had up to several of all of those except for the 7 Marine.

Thats funny Pipe, I think Ive owned 3 Johnsons, a 150, 130, and a 6.

Ive had 5 Mariners Greene, a 40, 30, 15, 4, and a 2. Three of them I got for free, 2 of them at the dump, and all of them ran. The 2 is on the back of my carolina j12 right now.

And 3 Tohatsus Phat, a 90, a 15, and a 8.

Heres my old 90 for sale again.

Loudest engine I ever had besides maybe the 350 mercruiser with thru transom exhaust.

This will end up being the longest derail thread.
