I'm might be no help with your question but I I always store my anchor and rode in/under the center hatch in between the captains seat and the back to back seat.
I store the rode and chain in bucket or canvas bag with the anchor laying off to the side.

Your wife is right.
I don't give a damn where she says the anchor needs to go, because she is right! Now weather or not you pay her any attention to being right, that is another story. Mine are stored in the bottom at the opening to the cuddy, ready if need be in an emergency situation. My wife don't like them stored there but she understands the possible need to access them quickly.

The guy i bought my boat from was a good friend and i dove off of it for a couple of years before i bought it from him. He kept anchor set up in the in deck fishbox. I hated it. PIA to open hatch and carry all that mess to the bow. As divers, we had at least 20 ft of chain plus couple hundred feet of line. When i bought the boat, i moved it all forward to the cuddy and stowed it in a fish basket( a HEAVY duty laundry basket). That was a lot easier to work with, but kept the cabin a soggy mess. Then i broke down and got the pulpit. That's the best thing i did after getting the Bimini and curtains.
By the , your wife is right, no matter the question |

Nope it's a cuddy. I had the same anchor set up in my last V 20 cuddy and the new owner (a very close friend and previous V 20 owner) thought it was a great idea.
In fact he is still using my bucket with the rode inside.

dude, just buy another anchor and you will both be right. problem solved. and get an old mud flap and some 3m spray glue and line the anchor storage area that youre concerned about. hard to imagine an anchor doing any real damage but anything is possible and piece of mind is a valuable thing
