That is exactly what I am going to do. I have a negative buss and a positive with spade fuses and will run dedicated wires to them then tap off them for accessories one by one. Fortunately it is simple at moment so it should be easy and much better to manage and properly fuse things. I hate those little inline glass fuses anyway.

I have to trace the wires to and from the fuel tank gauges and double check the others but from battery forward the wires look simple now. I have not even sat in the cuddy and looked at the back of the bulkhead to see what's there but it more than likely is hitting the bricks regardless to modernize it.

Glad you're going to do it right. Be sure use size the main wire from the battery to the panel correctly and be SURE to fuse it right where it comes off the battery - of all the wires in the boat, that's the one you don't want with an infused short.

If your boat is anything like my '85, it's been through a few generations of electronics. I got a couple of 5 gallon buckets loosely filled with completely unused wire when I went after it to clean it up.
