Just my opinion but I would buy two deck chairs to place in each corner instead of the bench seat. We used the bench one season and then left it stored in the basement. We would set up a few deck chairs that could be moved around. If you fish it will be in the way. If you snorkel or swim you will have to climb over it to get back into the cockpit.

My buddy that still owns my old V 20 likes the bench because his dogs can ride up on the bench and see what's going on.

Thanks, our boat does have the brackets on the deck...so I assume it had the OE seat at one time?

Question; did the seat have to be locked in to the brackets to be stable or could you move it around to sit on (thereby having acces to the stern area).

Our dog would be very happy there also...

I was able to find and buy one a few years back. I used it for one season and it's sat in my shed ever since. I planned to use it for my in-laws to sit on whenever we went out cruising, but they both died of cancer without ever having a chance to use it. To answer your question yes, with the pins removed you can pretty much put the seat anywhere you want to. (I never had the pins) The bottom of the tube frame is smooth. I wound up putting mine along the port side running front to rear rather than across the boat. My 78' only has 2 seats, a single pedestal captain's and mate's, so there was plenty of room. But for the amount of room it takes up it is pretty much useless to me since most times when I go out I'm going solo. I just use a deck chair when fishing. It cost me $100 and if you want it I'd be willing to sell it to you for the same price... Just understand that the cushions are old and cracked. No tears in them or the foam, but certainly not of the quality that is evident in Barry's (Inaforty) seat. Put another way, you will probably need to recover them eventually. This is another thought...I already have the cooler and cushion. Would just need to fab some type of backrest.

mine is just like Barry's. Couple years ago I had to replace the backing wood on the back rest. The thing ain't all that pretty but it gets the job done. Most comfortable seat in the house. Bought it on this site. It even came with its own custom cover.
