I got my boat up to 46 knots. V20 cuddy with three sided enclosure, radar arch, etc. The boat runs fastest in a bay chop. I just installed a Yamaha Saltwater Series II 15.25x19 SDS prop. It shifts like butter and holds water all the way to full trim.

Coming out of Toms River my v20 does 31 MPH. That's on a calm day. Can't imagine what the boat would feel like at 40 or 50 MPH

That should be right on target...and really flying along. Big prop but if you're getting full rpm's it can handle it.

52 mph via gps
helps to have 300hp merc inboard with a bravo drive. running a mirrage plus 18" pitch at 4850 rpm. just got the same prop but in 17" pitch to try it out |

V21 rated for max 200 hp.....so 48 to about 50mph is what you'll mostly see.
V20...they were rated for 225 ? so the Opti report is 52-53 mph. Of course we don't use our V's as speed boats, it's just another topic of conversation. Me....I like running 3,500 - 4,000 cruising on a nice calm ocean, but I also like the 200HO for when I'm in a hurry.....for any # of reasons, and 4,500 - 4,800 and I'm flying right along. I've wasted a bunch of thread time speculating and doing it again now.... How about a 300 on my V21....so if each 50 hp is worth approx 6-8 mph, I'd likely run 60 for sure. Imagine " cruising at 50 " in a V !!! Don't mess up at the wheel or it's the video from the old Wide World of Sports and the agony of defeat for sure !! |

My V21 with it's 200HP Merc regularly did 65-70mph.
(Of course, that's when it was on it's trailer going down Rt 80 or the Parkway). In the water I like to run about 30-35 in the ocean and bay and (Because of debris) less as I go up or down river from my launch point.

I'm going to recommend no more threads about top speed unless you have have pics of your gps and tach or other proof.
