Fishing is still hot although we are sorting through small and sub-legal fish. While it is an inconvenience it is a positive indicator of a healthy walleye population in Lake Erie. It has been more than a decade since I have had to measure a walleye to determine if it was legal to box. Recruitment from 2014 and 2015 was outstanding and will provide outstanding angling opportunities for the next fifteen years. Hopefully 2016 will continue this trend.
We have switched from crankbaits to spoons. While some anglers are fishing worm harnesses, we are doing well on spoons.
