My old VRO tank was in the bilge as well as my new xd100 tank now. Mine sits on a 2x12 cut to fit snug between the stringers and painted white. I use a small long neck funnel to add oil.

cool. as soon as im done eating this samich im gonna cut a board. ill screw the wire tank mount to the stringer like usuall. plus im gonna cut a 2x4 on a bevel to match the angle of the hull, hot coat it, then glue it to the hull longitudinally with 5200 and screw the mount down to it. and of course, take pictures

Oil tank was mounted in the bilge in my Striper, wasn't an issue.
