I try to keep a few extra whistle around. I hang one on the helm of every boat just in case we get boarded. http://www.boatstore.com/seachoice-4...e-plastic.html

as far as horns go, I buy 4 or 5 of those whistles every year, hook one to each life jacket, hook one to my keys, put one on my tackle bag, two or three in my boat bag. I doubt they will help signaling anotehr boat, but you never know. And bisides, Ive saved some frinds from tickets by having a spare in my tackle bag when we got checked. The only horns Ive seen that last are the can horns and PIAA air horns |

does anybody ever use those things anyway? my old bayliner, years ago, had a sticker on the dash with all the horn signals. i tried signaling a few times, ya know cause i had a horn and a sticker, and people would shoot me the bird and yell obscenities at me. bout as useless as a flare gun. all you can do is set there and drink beer and blow the horn at and shoot flares at all the boats that go by and wont stop to help

Got an old set of horns out of a f150 at the junk yard a while back, still haven't installed them in the cuddy, I'm a Chevy guy and it just doesn't feel right.
