gonna have to pull the merc back off and take a grinder to that aluminum cap. holds the motor too hi for me to use the top bolt and wont let it set flat against the transom if i use the second bolt. i do plan to remove the cap and glass it in but first i plan to fish. if i like the boat and decide to keepit i will do some stuff to it this winter

looks good!! yes as you said the cap is what cvause a good many rotted transmoms been a few here get rid of them and glass over the top before mounting the motors.
My buddy lives in Gulfport, I was there about 6 years ago, he will bne here in July.

really just run the motor like that for the summer, lol. but im worried i might damage the transom. kinda worried i might not have enough cap left if i cut away the clearance needed. dont have any aluminum to put a spacer between the motor and the transon to level it out, or money to buy some. i just wanna hook my motor up and go fishing!!!
