I went and looked at the motor again and it looks like brand new. the bad it has not been run in 10 years! Don't know year it is but I got these numbers off of it. model J4RDHENM SERL B08946955. I AM SURE THE CARB NEEDS TO BE CLEANED AND OWNER SAID HE WOULD DO THAT AND MAKE SURE IT RAN. I WOULD THINK YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE IMPELLER ALSO. WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED JUST DUE TO AGE. WHAT DO YALL THINK? I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A LITTLE JON BOAT JUST TO PUTT AROUND IN. HE WANTS 450.00 I WAS HOPING I COULD GET IT FOR LESS.

92? Something about INTRODUCES but, never made senses to me. I'd do a quick compression check, check spark, and offer him $300 and you'll deal with the carb.

I'd pull the cord and feel that the compression was decent and then offer $150 as is... This IS a tiny little motor...

At $350 plus you can pick up a 7.5 or better

Putting is fine most of the time but being able to zip back to the dock when a storm surprises you is worth considering.... Unless you REALLY WANT a tiny motor...

It's a 92. I know down here you can't touch a 9.9 or something of that size for less than $800-1000 for a decnet one. I would say the $450 isn't that out of line if the inside is as clean as the outside. From sittign that long plan on redoing the carb with a kit(those gaskets and seals will be hard as rocks from sitting), a full water pump kit as the impeller will be cracked, and the plastic housing should be done as well, a fuel pump(not expensive, but my bet is the diaphram will be hard as a rock from sitting), and also plan on doing all the rubber hoses from sitting.

Yeah I'm cheap lol

The 7.5 or whatever would likely be older...

I paid $75 for my '86 merc 7.5... Ran perfect but needed a lower unit... Then I bought another one with a broken transom clamp for $120 n robbed the lower unit from it... Soooo $195 total

My strong running 30 HP electric start Johnson with controls cost $75. Now I know that I got a great deal, but my point is that you should be able to do better than $450. Unfortunately, it's springtime, and this is the time of the year when prices are at their highest.
