So I've got a bit of an update...

Since last post, I have put a conditional buy on this boat upon successful compression test, survey, and boat ride.

Compression test went as followed.
1-185
2-195
3-190
4-190
5-190
6-195
7-195
8-185

He said gear oil was really dirty, but no signs of water.

Power steering hose is cracking but not leaking yet.

Thermostat is either stuck open or not one on engine bc there was no heat in engine.

Next, we took boat for a ride. Everything was great until we got it up around 3000-3500 RPMs...engine started hesitating like water was in the fuel. I know the boat has been sitting and not sure if fuel was treated or anything...what is everyone's thoughts.

I was just reading about electric water pumps and how the are necessarily not a good thing....could this be why he wasn't getting any temp reading over 80 on the dash? Do you think electric water pump is a bad thing. I remember when I originally posted that someone said is the engine suppose to have an electric water pump?

should have a belt driven or crankshaft driven raw water pump, I doubt an electric pump could keep it cool at high rpms

Update... So owner paid to have carb completely redone because it was hesitating really bad on test run. Today, they went to run it and had a knocking vibration. Sounds like the engine is done. Owner said I can have the whole thing for 2k but I don't know how much it'll cost me to repower? What are yalls thoughts on this one. Should I just walk?

Engine was supposedly rebuilt but I'm thinking upper was done but not the lower. I was just checking eBay for some prices and it looked like cheapest was about 3500? That sound right? Or no
