OOPS, my bad. Got it confused with MJ's 1.6L. He would be better off with a bracket, and an old 2.4L 200HP MERCURY if he could find it. Those were the lightest engines with strong power output of most any outboard ever built, and good on fuel.

I know very little about engines but can tell you from experience, when my motor did that, it turned out to be a fuel restriction problem. Run it off a seperate tank with a new hose and ball to rule this out.

His small boat has a brand new tank, fuel line, and primer bulb. I'm figuring the carbs have some blockage.

I've been telling him to go the bracket route, problem is I had a line on 2 of them for cheap or free months ago, but now that we need one everything is too pricey, too far away, or junk.
