I may disagree with others on this one........my opinion being it greatly depends on the condition !

If it's like a time capsule boat, kept dry, tight, clean and shiny therefore in " like new condition" then it should sell for quite a bit more. Reason being......new 20' at AC boat show at $ 64,000 to make an extreme comparison.
Granted, wood construction in V20, and if original fuel tank, plumbing, wiring etc means it's an old boat. If water has permeated transom or other parts of hull, bigger discount there too...
Motor.....same scenario.

So, I suggest you consider pricing your rig based on:
1. Book values - Kelly, etc to get a base line.
2. Add value for any newer equipment - electronics, etc.
3. Check comparable sales, to compare what other's have sold for in worst, roughly equal or better condition.

How to sell - market what's good about your boat, list with several GOOD pictures of your boat in shiny clean condition. Don't stretch the truth, but don't hesitate to list what's good if it is.
As for actual selling price, I'd be guessing without doing this research. Could go for $ 500 if rough.......could sell for $ 8,000 if museum condition.

Pics of all sections best when selling ...... inside cuddy, deck, transom, hull, helm station, motor, and all sides of hull etc.....good well lit pictures tell a lot of the story.

Ever see boat ads featuring boats loaded with leaves and such ?
Run.....don't walk...unless telling the truth about a boat that's been idle and uncovered.

Sold our "V" spring 2015. We did real well, got our price and the new owner loves the boat.

Price your boat where you feel it should be and hold for your price. People will pay for a boat in great condition. Your "sales pitch" should focus on what it would cost to get into boating when buying a comparable boat new vs your used boat.

Understand though, you will have to "sell" your boat to prospective buyers. Gently lead them to logical conclusions regarding the value of buying your boat rather than other boats. Sell the quality of the "V" the wonderful design and the smooth dry ride. Get them out on the boat so that they can experience the ride. Then they will understand what you are talking about.

Here is the link to my "for sale" thread here on WellcraftV20.com.

Best of luck with your sale!

I got the boat about 4 years ago and it needed a whole out outdrive. The guy who had it before me blew a huge hole in it so I got a good deal on it because of that. Scence then I replaced the outdrive and kind of brought it back to life so to say . so its worth more than what I paid for it
