Some of the things we needed through the years came from e-bay or the like.
Usually I would have the part number, google the number and several sellers would pop up. We had good luck with the likes of a Mercury control box and cables, fuel hose that we could not find locally (without ordering), Mariner voltage regulator and a few other things I can't think of at the moment.

I do alot of Ebay stuff as well, but it would be nice to find a place that carried parts in stock at boats.net prices. They have good prices on alot of stuff, but 2 weeks shipping SUCKS! The other thing I went to buy the other day was radiused zip ties for soem fuel lines. boats.net has them for $.11 a piece, list is $.19 a piece, my local dealer marked them up to $.59 a piece. I wanted a bag of 100 until he told me $59, I can buy a bag for $11 from boats.net. I'll be giving you an email here soon spare, just want to get some zincs, oil filter, and a couple of gaskets to do some annual maintence on it here soon.
