I've got a 25" '95 Merc 225 EFI that I am looking to sell. Picked it up about 2 years ago for a 22' Grady bracket conversion project and haven't been able to finish. Not sure when the boat will be ready for a motor, so I figured I would go ahead and unload it so it's just not sitting around.

Ran well and compression was between 98 and 105 on all six when I bought it. Hours are unknown (on a Mercury factory replacment powerhead) and it got a new lower unit 3 years ago. Has been stored indoors since I got it and the seller told me he stabilized the fuel before we pulled it off his boat. I fogged the cylinders once I got it home. It could use paint on the cowlings.

Comes with gauges, binnacle control, wiring harnesses, oil tank and 22' (I think) 1 year old throttle/shift cables. All it needs is your steering.

More pics are coming. Asking $2800, but I'll listen to offers.

Thx gw--- might eventually end up spending that much but at that price it would have to be a 20" shaft..... Sounds like a good deal for someone tho.

Throw me an offer if you think it's something you might be interested in.

I've heard nothing good about the first one. The second one I have no idea and the price of the third one makes me want to cry after what I sold my 110 for.

RUN FOREST RUN! Avoid a FICHT with problems like the plague.

Good engine, but corrosion is a HUGE issue with them. SUZUKI used rather cheap aluminum castings that are notorious to corrode SEVERELY in salt water.

Not a bad engine, just old technology. Also since it is an old tech crossflow engine, the fuel consumption will show it.
Any thoughts?
In red.

Thanks!

Kinda suspected the 02 was no go... Was really hopeful on the zuk but being houston it's surely been in salt.... Sad that the oldest and most expensive was the only prospect lol.

I assume there is no good way to tell if the zuk has corrosion probs until something fails right?

Striper there's a reason I wanted your 110....

Give this guy a call...
http://vikingmarineservices.homestead.com/index.html

I talked to him the other day, he overhauls motors and has some used ones. Most are carb 2 two strokes.

Or you can contact this guy that is in Tampa. The Hull Truth has a lot of good reviews.

115 Yamaha four strokes are starting to pop up on the used market pretty often. they are heavy, and not that powerful, but they are a good engine, I've seen them in the $2500-$3500 range pretty regularly, but like any used motor, they can be a money pit as well. Yamaha 150 are still bringing a premium >$5000
