Not backed by card board, but after wicking up a few decades of rain and sea water it might be like card board LOL. Look forward to seeing your new wiring. I was thinking a switch like for trim tabs would be a good setup for your switches on the trim.

It's backed by wood, glued to the underside of the panel. And like all wood, it's subject to rotting if it gets wet and isn't dried out properly. That's why you should always leave all your hatches open over winter storage, and have a small fan under the deck blowing air from one end of the boat to the opposite end. It doesn't have to be much, just enough to move the air constantly.

Destroyer thanks I just heard somewhere that the gas tank hatch had corrugated backing not wood. I am going to use the boat this summer after the rewire and then this winter I will pull the cap and replace stringers and transom as they aren't totally shot but I want to be sure that everything is in tip top shape. I want to post some update pics of wiring ans switch panel but I do hvac and have been working late the past couple nights. Gas tank hatch and battery cables are about all I have left before dealing with the merc 470 charging system and splashing the boat by my bday which is may 6th

Ok so been I've been busy at work and not slot of time this week but here's a little up date on the electrical sea choice 6 rocker with breakers panel installed. Old ignition moved out of old panel to beside the wheel. Blue sea fuse panel installed and individually feeding and fusing all switches including trim tab switch and ignition. I haven't secured and mounted all the wires yet but I will do that next as I still need to put the bilge plumbing in I just picked up the perko 1 1/8 thru hulls for the pumps today. Now lastly my out drive trim switch is in need of relocating and replacing. Does anyone have any ideas as to what wires are what or advice on a replacement switch? Thanks to all that have helped and got me excited about this v20
