not bad on the labor, it could have been a lot worse. I looked up the part and Mercury doesn't sell the trim motor by itself, it list a trim kit for $1171.00
for the design 1 and $644 for the design 2. Arco(good aftermarket) retails for $612. There's decent mark up on that pump. The dealer didn't screw you, Mercury did by having that trim motor so high, everyone else bases their parts off of OEM

Spare parts the motor was exactly what you said. Still a lot of money. Labor w as good. I always bring my mercury to the same marina and never had a issue with the price for labor it's the parts that are killing me.

yes it is a lot of money, I haven't done one of those in quite a while, I didn't realize the trim motors had gotten so high on them. FWIW, Yamaha has a couple $700+ trim motors as well. Misery loves company
