They make the OUTside stainless steel and the inside the cheapest unpainted steel they can find in China. A single isn't loud enough.... a double costs twice as much to replace every couple years. They always work fine when you don't need them...I carry a can air horn and THAT rusts and doesn't work when you need it to.
Horns are made by the same Chinese company that makes trailer lights.

friend just bought an 06 tidewater, had a horn mounted of the side of the console, looked like a speaker. this boat has been in nothing but salt, and it still works. could not believe it

This thread got me thinkin...
I'll bet a GM truck horn from the junkyard mounted in the cuddy behind the helm with the horn directed towards the hatch would last a while and give a decent blast. Might try it out.
