Default Price this engine

I have an 89 110hp 20" shaft evinrude. I have it on here for sale, and on Craigslist, for sale for $1000 OBO. Compression was good and even when I checked it. Am I too high? I'd like to move the engine.

Fall=cheap boats and parts, spring= $$$ for boats and parts. People aren't willing to spend money when they can't use something, but come spring when the weather warms up they want out on the water.

For those who can wait or want bargains, yes. But many people pull there boats out and there engines get messed up from being sat up improperly winterized or whatever, and want an engine now to repalce it and will pay big bucks for it. I'm always amazed at what stuff brings up north in the spring, but in the fall there are some bargains from peopel not wanting to winterize and move em quick.

Exactly my point... Sure you can sell in the fall or buy in the spring and LOTS of people do but those folks end up w decidedly less cash in their pockets than the alternative.

also, being a 110, it's an unusual hp. too large for the 3 cyl crowd and lower end of the 4 cyl range. being a 20" kinda limits your market . also, it's a 25 year old motor and to 75% of boaters, the preception is 2 stroke is obsolete.
you might try some local fresh water forums, 20" is a little more standard.
it's getting harder and harder to sell any 2 stroke ob thats more than 10 years old.
i know, i've got a couple sitting in the back yard

I have two engines. The one is a 130 hp 25" shaft Johnson, that's the Sandy engine. The other is the 110 hp. My plan was to hang them both on the Grady I have so I can run them on a boat, but the transom turned out to be complete mush on there. So now it looks like I'll hang onto them again until the spring.

Don't forget to try scream and fly for selling them. The 20" shaft 110 would probably move over there.
