i used to work with a guy that his mother was american and his father was from Egypt. His skin was lighter than mine after a summer tan. He would always fill in his nationality as African American. The people behind the counters would question him on it. If they were black, he would question their ancestry and right to claim African American, He would site all the know regions that dark skinned people come from(not all from Africa) and start claiming racial bias and discrimination because of his skin color. The guy was pretty smart(one of the better engineers I worked with). By the time he was thru with the lazy ***' behind the counter, they wouldn't know what to say. He told me he created quite a stink at the DMV office one time. I would have loved to see one of his throw downs in person.






Ferm, one thing you can't escape, there are some really stupid people out there, and most of thing cling to stupid ideas like their skin colors makes a difference,They always look for a reason to blame their own personal failures. It goes both ways. We can only hope the one child will be smarter than her surroundings and grow up to be a decent person, sounds like the rest of the family are a waste of oxygen. There was a black girl on the news page in Rock Hill, SC that was beat up by another black girl that didn't like her because she was too white and talked white. I skimmed thru the article and read the comments. i was pleasantly surprised by the number of people that supported the girl that got beat up, saying being smarter and better than your surroundings isn't anything to be ashamed of or worthy of being beaten. The girl that assaulted her had a history of violence and was arrested.

It's funny you bring up the one black giel beating up the other. The one sister quit playing with the other one after she played with my son. I guess it's like Ron White said, you can't fix stupid.

Ferm I would speculate that MAYBE the other child had other racist family members who influenced her more than her sister.... MAYBE the mom was just distrustful of strangers OR maybe she was raised in a racist black household or MAYBE her boyfriend or husband would beat her if he saw her looking to another man. OR MAYBE she just didn't like her child playing near people she didn't know but wasn't bold enough to say so OR maybe she was raised black, considered herself as a white skinned black and happened to also be racist...... It's pretty much impossible to understand all the dynamics of someone else's life without knowing them.... Heck MAYBE she hated you for some other reason you never even considered and the little girl maybe got her attitude from some other child she often played with.


I can tell y'all one thing... IF you think white children aren't ever brainwashed from an early age to hate "Fn N's" You have lived a sheltered life (NOT an insult!).... I've lived all over the mid-west, met people from all over the country and I work in the oil fields of the south west and have more than once been absolutely BLOWN AWAY with the hatred and outright brazen nastiness shown by what I thought were good people I had been working with on a daily basis for weeks or months...

Example:
A few months ago I was out to a steak dinner with 3 co workers and the wife and young children of one and cousin and sister of another when the whole group including the 4 or 5 year old boy got into a VERY loud discussion about F N this and that and "if a F N ever so much as looks at my little girl I'll fn kill him" and if she even speaks to him I'll beat her to a within an inch of her life. Keep in mind she was 6 and sitting right there and a black man wearing a uniform from the local dodge dealership was walking past with his 5 or 6 year old little boy when the little boy smiled and waved at our group of 8 or 9 people. These were people I had worked with and socialized with for a couple months and from 3 different families and two different states... I had NO IDEA previously they would act that way.... I finished my steak quickly and left.

I have heard similar things from white people now and again for my whole life. In the circle where I work I'd say that 60-80% of people consider blacks Fn N's and probably half of those are fairly polite to their faces while the other half will come right out and tel them as long as not too many witnesses are around... otherwise they are just cold and rude..... That said tho about 90% of black people I meet separate themselves from whites but then again if I were black and had heard the terrible things I as white person have heard other whites say I would probably be VERY distrustful of whites.....

Don't get me wrong... I have seen plenty of black against white racism too and while it MAY be more prevalent than white on black I certainly wouldn't say it was one sided at all.

The truth as I see it is that people as a rule are vile despicable creatures and there is only a minority among us (all races included) that deserves the air we breathe..... Sooo maybe white crimes are often different, Fact is that a a much too large percentage of humans will lie cheat steal or maybe even kill if given the chance to gain something if they think they can get away with it. Anyone who has seen children play especially when they think they aren't being watched knows that they are born to be ruthless..... Not long after they learn to walk they are fighting ,name calling, lying, stealing, breaking stuff out of spite.... even as they get older... You can tell them for their whole lives about dangers and honesty and trust but just one other kid says "sneak out tonight and meet me at...." and many kids, unless they are afraid will probably try it... Or "just tell your folks you're at...." And the lies just flow from their mouths.....

Smoke, while I completely agree with you on all those organizations you mentioned (nice research BTW) I have to point out to you that not one of them marched in or took place in the demonstrations in Furguson, Mo. a few weeks ago. My point was not that there are not anti-black people or organizations around, rather, my point was that there is no one (that I know of at least) that actively goes from incident to incident and deliberately fans the flames of hate like Jackson and Sharpton make a living doing.

And, by the way, please do not misunderstand me or my feelings on black people. I grew up surrounded by black people. My teen-age stomping grounds were Passaic and Paterson NJ. (Both very rough, mostly black large cities) I went to school with black kids and hung out with them most of my life.l I owe my life to a black man that saved me from death while I was in Nam. I am not a racist, and it bothers the sh!t out of me when I hear anyone use the N word, including black comics like Chris Rock. If it's wrong for whites to use that word, it's just as wrong (if not more so) for blacks to use it.. Demeaning is demeaning, no matter who says it. So, while I applaud your research and your feelings, I'll stand by my original statement. The most racist race of people I personally know of, the people that constantly use race as an excuse to get welfare, food stamps, unemployment, the people that are constantly dropping the race card for all their own troubles are the blacks. And while I agree that they may have some justification for some of their problems, until they start changing how they live, how they act, how they think about race, they will always have those problems.

Ferm, what we did to Native Americans was a crime and a national shame. It is, however, history, and as such cannot be undone. Just as we cannot undo the horrible practice of slavery that our nation also engaged in, or the interment of innocent Japanese-American families in WWII. (Just to name a few of the things that we, as a nation, have done wrong). But we can learn from these things, and we can move forward so those sorts of things never happen again.

My parents were Polish. So I guess that to some people I'm Polish-American. To that I say no, I was born in America, so I'm an American. I'm proud of my Polish heritage, but I do not flaunt it or wave it around like some kind of symbol of pride. My grandparents on both sides were slaves. They lived in Poland and were under Russian rule for much of their lives. So please don't anyone bring up that blacks were once slaves and deserve some sort of special treatment because of that. They don't. They are not the only people that have ever be oppressed, nor will they be the last.

Children learn what they are taught. They learn most of their core values from their parents before they turn 4. That shapes them to be racist or non-racist, hard working or lazy, honest or dishonest, neat or sloppy, etc, etc.

It takes a significant outside emotional event (like the death of a parent) to change those core values. So if those little girls are learning to be racist by their parents, then that, unfortunately, is probably what they will grow up to be.

I cannot speak for their mom, since we know nothing of her history. But from the description that Ferm gave of her actions, I think it's safe to presume that her children are being taught from their observations of them.
