I loved my 13' when i was 14, my Montauk when I was 18 and my 21' outrage when i was 23 years old, but they all pounded. If I was single with a younger man's back, I'd still have the outrage. However, I still like lookin at them on Craigslist and saw this old whaler last night that looked pretty nice and inexpensive, for a whaler....

jeez, you think we're a cult, wait till you meet the whaler crowd.

i've owned a 13 for over 20 years and love it for scalloping , checking crab traps, solo fishing , etc. they are one of the toughest hulls you will ever have and certainly live up to the poundng rep they have. as far as price, sure you pay more, but when you sell, you can usually get more.

Nice plug Spare, LOL! The non traditional Whalers pound a little too, case of the 23' Outrage although it wasn't a wet boat at all. They are tough as nails. The jetty at Venice, FL back in the late 80's there is a guy that had a 70 Johnrude on a 15' Whaler. We were diving the jetty and he was jumping the waves. Big air and my back still hurts thinking about some of those landings.

Thumbs up

The 13 Whaler was also a Ray Hunt design. I read somewhere he doodled it on an old envelope.

I've got a 15 Orrion I'll give you.
