I have an easy steer type unit on both of my boats. They work fine. Thing I like about them is I can raise or lower either of the engines and the other one will still work. Truthfully, since all I want to do is about 1 mph trolling, I just leave the main engine in the water anyways. Helps as a rudder when I want to make turns.
Now, as to the kicker engine itself, I have a 9.8 Merc 2 stroke on the V20, and an older 9.9 Honda 4 stroke on the V21. The slight extra weight of the Honda really isn't a problem, especially since I moved the battery forward. I liked the idea that I could run both engines on straight gas, since I use an electric VRO pump on my main engine (Merc 200), and on the V20 I use premix on both my main engine (Johnson 200) and the Merc 9.8. I guess my point is that it's a lot easier to carry only one type of gas (straight or premix) than to carry separate types for different engines.

I agree DESTROYER 1 tank would be best, any way I went over to my friends shop yesterday to check out the EVINRUDE 20 hp. We ran a comp. check on them motor , 150 , 153 #'s , spark was also great and motor runs SWEET !! we droped the lower unit and replaced the impeller and changed the gear oil, I also found out that the owners father died 6 years ago so the motor was pickeld and put away till last week. The motor is a 1989 with all the controls and comes with a MOOLER 17.5 gallon tank. Well a great running , clean fresh water motor , with all the goodies for $800 was to much for me to pass up so I bought it ! Will rigg it all up before april 15 when the NAUTI BUOY goes in the slip
