i spent $300.00 on a boat cover for my center consol 21' wellcraftc. I was looking for a top of the line cover to protect my V20 when not in use with a great warranty.
I was called multiple names by their customer support department. i even had a rep call me and request the cover back. They we not going to replace it or honor a future warranty replacement. After a light rain a few months ago THE COVER LEAKS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!! after trying contact to contact them under a google search they have since changed their company name I had to install another 15x30 tarp over the original cover i purchased- handy huh.... $300 buys you a lifetime of blue tarps that you can will to your children. Big Lots has the best price i've found besides garage sales.

$300 won't get you much in a boat cover, T-Top covers are made locally here, they start around $800 and usually last about 5-6 season. custom fitted covers start around $1500 and go up from there,
Blue tarps, pool covers and discarded transport covers are the way to go. If there is a boat dealer near by, check to see if they have discarded transport covers. I've got a whaler cover on my McKee. The trash people usually wont let them dump them in a dumpster, so they are usually happy if some one takes them away. Spring time right around a boat show is usually the best time to get one. Talk to the service personal, ask them to take their time removing the cover, the yard boys usually hack them up into little pieces. Offer up a few pizzas for lunch for their effort Last edited by spareparts; 11-19-2013 at 09:19 PM. |

Everything Spare just said is 100% accurate.
My personal favorite is still a winter pool cover. These things are made to be out in the snow and rain and yuck and still last for 5-10 years, depending on the quality you buy. My personal favorite company is National Pool Wholesalers. Right now you can get a 15 x 24 foot, oval winter pool cover with an 8 year warranty for $31 bucks plus shipping. http://www.nationalpoolwholesalers.c...CVR081524.html Now how are you going to beat that price? And don't forget, pool covers are sized with a 4 foot overhang, so really your 15 x 24 is actually 19 x 29. More than enough to wrap your baby up nice and dry for the long winter months. Oh, and the covers come with a steel cable and winch to secure them around your boat nice and tight. That's a hell of a better deal than some dealer raping you for a boat cover, charging you through the nose just because they think they can get away with it.

The heavy duty tarps at Home Depot / Lowes last much longer than the lighter blue.
These are brown/silver in color. |

Yep... they do, but they cost more than the pool cover, and they don't come with a vinyl covered steel cable and winch to secure them to your boat. Just saying...
