ok here it goes. as i said my wife & i are self insured. we got a letter .from blue cross blue shield stating our currant plan would go away jan 31 and they had picked another plan close to what we had. that plan was 70% more than out currant plan. i felt we might be able to get the tax credit. so i went on line with no luck(kept getting kicked off).so this week i called the help line and talked with a nice gentleman and went thru the process. at the end we did qualify for the tax credit, now with that our policy will be 104.37 CHEAPER than what we were paying before. i dont like all this s*#t about this healtcare and i dont like OBAMA!! but i am grateful to recive the tax credit.the credit is based on your income and # of people in the household. the lower your income the more you can quailfy for. so its seems like if you want health insurance you cant make much money!

daydreamer, I believe the tax credit only applies if you take ACA insurance, not your private plan. from the way your post reads, its sounds like you are applying the tax credit to your personal plan. Everything I've read says that the tax credit only applies to O care enrollment. I may be wrong, but its based on what I've read. If the guy on the phone said so, I'd get his name and number, have him fax a copy of it to you with his signature on it. BTW, what kind of deductible, out of pocket difference did you get? My sister lives in Wake Forest, shes been trying to get some answers from the help line, so far she said they don't qualify for any tax credits, and the cost of insurance on a `10K/10K plan is %70 percent higher than what they were paying with a 5k/5k plan. They are self employed, run a small business, and don't make much money.

Aca=obama care. All new insurance has to be aca compliant regardless of where it comes from. Just to clarify my point(question) is from my understanding you have to enrole in Obama care to get the tax breaks, if your BC/bs plan is a private policy, you won't be eligible for the rebates.

All I know is my wife is PISSED that she is losing her doctor Dec 15. And then there is the little fact it will cost us $5000 MORE if I have my surgery next year than it will this year. Or the fact we lost our policy we liked with acceptable out of pocket costs to a basic HMO with HUGE out of pocket costs. And I'm sure since we didn't get dropped(just switched policy types), we won't be able to stay on for what we are paying now or our current policy even with o saying you can keep your policy for another year. He sees the writing on the wall and knows if he doesn't quieten the masses some that it will be MURDER come the next election cycle. So he will just slow down the implementation some so people will not go ballistic as fast(think gas prices, if they would have went from $1 to $3 overnight people would have rioted, but because it happened over time people just went with it. And now we think $3 a gallon is cheap.).

From what I understand you have to be enrolled in any kind of plan period to be eligible for your tax rebate. Those who remained uninsured will be the ones forfeiting their refund.....

BTW, just got the numbers for our business. This December our policy for our company will go up 11% because its locked in. Thats $82,000 for us due at the first of the year. If this mess aint resolved by December '14 our rate will go up 68% making our premium $137,760 with waaay less coverage......So much for offering our employees benefits!! So we end up stripping our guys their benefits so they can go shop for insurance which may or may not and probably will not be as advantageous as what we offered. REDICULOUS

ACA = Affordable Care Act. A completely fictitious piece of bullsh!t that the government foisted on us literally in the middle of the night. Thank you Obama, Reid, Pelosi and all the Democrats in Congress and the Senate that rammed this sh!t down our throats.

You would have thought that the American public would have been smarter and seen through the smokescreens. They lied to our faces, and now they have the nerve to say they "misspoke, or were misinformed... and they expect the American public to buy that crap.

Default When to Whine and Win to Wine.

Yeah, I'm long winded, post-speaking.

Sat in the doctors office an hour and 10 minutes yesterday waiting to be "checked-in". Meanwhile the wife is in agony trying to get comfortable with a bulging disk at L-5. She sat there crying the entire time due to her injury. Everything since Christmas has plain sucked in the Ridgerunner house. Leaky toilet on X-mas day, leaky water heater, virus spread thru the house about the same time. No fishin, no boating, no vacation to speak of..
Can I blame Ocare for my petty list of BS? YES I CAN, BUT NO.

AND I am not saying the AHA had anything to do with our wait, our Clinic enveiled a new computer system yesterday. Hmmm, why did they do that do you think?

Sorry if I sound like I'm whining.
Poor wife has to put up with all my crap then deal with a hurt back to boot. She deserves a medal.

Bottle of Gurti in my near future, or maybe some screwdrivers. I need some R&R.
