Default Bow cleat

The bow cleat on our v20 is sticking up about an quarter of an inch. Ours has the rod that connects to the bow eye. The previous owner just chalked around it but I want to snug it up. Is it just a matter of removing the two screws on the deck then screwing the cleat in a turn or two?

Maybe. But I have seen the threaded rod that connects the cleat to the bow eye with reverse threads so it acts like a turnbuckle. Worth a try to see what happens when you turn it a little.

ridge is spot on, usually top cleat and bow eye are bottomed out, slack is taken up in the middle.

One end or the other of the threaded rod will likely have a jam nut to prevent it from loostening over time.
I installed the cast piece on the bow eye on mine but never got around to installing the correct cleat or threaded rod. I lost both in the 10 freaking years it took to make my 20 ready for action. BTW- Welcome aboard.

Hopefully the deck over your cuddy cabin isn't all spongey like mine was and starting to sag.

Thanks for the replies. The bow feels solid. I'll look at taking up some slack or taking the rod out all together.
