I would be concerned about making the boat track funny in the slop. It would definitely make for a quicker bow.

I had thought about doing some sort of spray rail too. But I was thinking about something maybe just below the rub rail. Or actually intigrate a spray rail and a rub rail together.

The only thing that makes my boat have a dry ride is the enclosure. Any kind of broadside wind blows the spray right back into the boat. Thats the only problem with deep vee hulls. I think a little deflector just below the rub rail would be enough to turn the water down without affecting the ride quality.

All that flare can be a blessing and a curse on smaller hulls. I can't count the times I have been completely drenched when you would think it would be dry.
I already have tabs, just brainstorming now.

any boat i have been on or owned was wet in a quartering chop. the driest on i had was a 21 ft hydro-sport kevlar hull with a 235 omc on it. it was so fast it could outrun the forward spray from the bow.

I'm with GreyWolf on this one. The flare is doing the job of a spray rail. The only time you get wet is when the wind is howling from the forward quarter. Nothings gonna stop that but curtains.
Sometimes when we get a SW wind in the afternoon I'll run into the beach with the wind on the rear quarter then turn south straight into to stay dry.
