Default Looking for manual for 1987 v20 steplift

Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to the area of boating and fishing offshore. Just picked up this boat and trailer for 2k. I would like to get the manual for this so i know what type of motor is in it and what parts is has. Any help would be much appreciated.

There really are no manuals that would be of any help to you..you would need a specific engine manual.

Yep boat manuals are a joke... they tell you to wear a life jacket and not to hit another boat.... For the engine you need to look at it... there will be a serial number and most likely a manufacturer and model number ie mercruiser 165.

Default Thanks to all

Thanks guys ( and gals). It looks like a 4 cylinder with onboard heat exchanger, power steering, and mercruiser outdrive. Pics to come. I am a knowledge guy.. the more I know the more I can get into trouble.

sounds like a 3.7L mercruiser. Does it have something like 470/165/180 written on the valve cover? Pics would help a lot

Looks in pretty good shape...what's it say on top of the air cleaner?...one thing you'll want to do is replace the original distributor w/an electronic one...and check out the plug wires to insure no cracks...if there's any question about them, replace them...basic stuff loke close inspection of belts and hoses goes a long way...and of course the crankcase dipstick...make sure you find out what kind of oil to use...

Is it havin' any particular problems or runnin' pretty good?...

Inspect the bellows...and make sure they are in good shape...I think there is another control cable boot too...
