Sounds like good solid motor for a V you have, Greene...I'm sincerely glad no weight issues as I had feared...in some cases, it's great to be wrong and this is one of them!!......I lookin' forward to the 17P prop report...and the pics sound pretty cool too...

Reel - I expected to see more of a differential, but it was maybe 1" more water in the well, and no water at all through the scuppers.

Too bad these boats weren't rated up to 225 hp......because it's the same block, but 238 hp at the prop. Mercury Opti 225 would be fast on a V21 too..........both maybe 55 mph ?

sorry you did not reach my numbers--maybe the extra foot--lol I did raise my motor up a hole and trim it to the max--feels like it is floating--but otherwise sounds like you are a happy camper with it. How was the fuel burn for the distance.

I will take pictures of rpm and gps next time out for ya.

Glad your weight concerns were calmed--and what about all the smoke she puts out---LOL

My engine may be mounted too low - will check cav plate position next time I take boat out when on plane.

If you are looking for top speed, I would get a viper, if i remember correctly the rebel is better for mid range cruising efficiency than speed.

I like a good top end when I can get it...but mid range cruising speed EFFICIENCY is where it's at for me...over the life of that motor, it can add up to a substantial $$ number...and probably easier on the motor itself...

I'm fine tuning top speed BECAUSE it's also related to total efficiency.

Nearly all of my boating is cruising 3,000 - 4,000 rpm range, besides trolling.

To me, setting it up to run close to maximum possible speed is also RELATED to efficiency - to a degree, it means it's dragging the least amount - therefore long term easiest on the motor.

Viper prop - my understanding is the Viper runs better with the DFI motor, but the etec better with the Rebel. Reason - the etec produces more torque, and the Rebel is a bigger cupped prop.
